What is “Belles in the Meadow”?

Aine and Katie @ Belles

“Belles in the Meadow” is the all-girls football tournament  that the Club started in 2006 and has now taken place annually at Easter since that date.

Great support has been received in developing Belles from the likes of Aine O’Gorman and Katie Taylor, who were regular visitors every year and who the girls (and many parents) lovedto see. Aine and Katie would present cups to the various competition winners and medals to all the participants. The FAI have been tremendous in their support of the event too – with Noel King, Emma Martin, Paul Keogh and Rory O’Hare being regular attendees.

We usually have around 60 teams from dozens of clubs, with in all around 600 girls playing over the course of a weekend. There’s a festival atmosphere with trophies and medals to win, but importantly the opportunity for girls and their families to have a great weekend with their footballing friends.
